Cresswell in a back 3....
Looking like a very clever move from Moyes to push Cresswell in to a back 3. I like to say how simple football is, but credit where due - i'd never have seriously considered Cresswelll at centre half.

He gives a very nice balance to the formation and also allows us to change formation if necessary with no problems at all.

I'm pretty sure at one point near the end today Adrian was looking to play the ball out to him and he indicated that he didn't want the ball... says it all.

i actually like cresswell a lot more than others seem to but when you are getting CUNTED by Ogbonna of all people about not making the right decision you clearly have fucked up.

Get your head back in the game Aaron. Listen to Pearcy.

Re: Cresswell in a back 3....
A couple of moments today he was so bad he looked like a boy playing against men

After they went 2-1 up the whole team defensively looked like nervous kids no aggression no touch no decisiveness it was horrible to watch

Re: Cresswell in a back 3....
His first two seasons were great, he was whipping decent crosses and linked up well with Payet and even chipping in with a few goals himself, now he's turd and anyone thinks he's good, clearly doesn't know football.

" Presumably the coaching staff at West Ham agree with me."

Not really, there is no other options, so he's in by default

Re: Cresswell in a back 3....
To correct myself, it was 2 goals in 4 games wasn't it, including vs Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal. He then played left wing-back in the cup game and looked very uncomfortable there.

A huge assumption. Presumably the coaching staff at West Ham agree with me. When he went to centre-back we let in 3 goals in 5 games against really tough opposition - incredibly strong defensive displays! So I just reject that he was shit in that role over that period - he was a huge success.

Now in the last two we have not played as well, and Cresswell deserves criticism along with the rest of them, but let's not pretend it wasn't very successful before that. It needs monitoring for sure, but I don't think the club should abandon it after two games where a lot more than Cresswell has been malfunctioning.

Alex v, you not understanding why cresswell piss poor performances should be singled out really does prove why your football related posts are best ignored.

He has been bad for many matches now, but today was an absolute shocker.
On three occasions he ran away from the man/ball. Almost funny but it wasn't

Everyone else thinks Cresswell has been shit for some time except for the arch contrarian Alex V, the bloke can't cross for shit, apart from that one Ginge scored, even a stopped clock is right once or twice a day

Get rid in January

Re: Cresswell in a back 3....
Well he gets huge credit for the assist for the opener, so I'm not sure he can be labelled atrocious. Not good enough on the ball I do agree, but I put that partly down to lack of options ahead of him. Whole team struggled with the defensive side. I don't really see why Cresswell should be singled out right now.

he was fucking atrocious todya- seems to have complete lost the ability to make a decision. Let alone actually play football

That's a decent shout. I am concerned about Cresswell's lack of height, but I think he's done well enough to stick with him a bit longer. Plus he takes set-pieces which are crucial to us. I would pick Kouyate over Collins or Reid though.

Willtell 7:33 Tue Dec 26
Re: Cresswell in a back 3....
Kouyate because he's not a midfield player. He's a CB playing there....

And replace him with whom?

Re: Cresswell in a back 3....
Cresswell has to be dropped (rested in modern parlance!) for a while. He's been OK in a back 3 but isn't a CB and is not as good as Masuaku at the moment.

Awful, can’t do the basics now. And the mistakes keep comjng and leading to opposition goals.

Cresswell - what the #### was he thinking with an unnecessary 50 yard crossfield pass in his own half a minute or two after going one up. The prick.

Re: Cresswell in a back 3....
He's done fine but again he was not getting in the yards to sprint back into his position when needed.Especially for the 3rd goal. Arnautovic of all people showed what should be applied. Obiang,Kouyate and Cresswell to name 3 don't do this enough that's we conceded a lot.
Moyes missed a chance to blood a couple of youngsters recently who would of been hungrier but that's not going to happen any time soon .
Like others I'm depressed with it all after a brief spell of optimism, but the last 2 results were what I expected from Moyes.
